Mass customization is widely considered a new paradigm for the production of goods in the information age. At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge/USA, Kent Larson and his associates are working on methods of implementing this idea in architecture. The "Open Source Building" is intended to make it possible for the occupants to design their apartment themselves on the computer using an iterative process.
